Open Letter from CPAEmpire.com to its Affiliates Regarding Stance on Affiliate Non-Compete Agreements
January 26, 2006
Dear Affiliates:
I want to begin by commending you for your strong personal and professional commitment to CPAEmpire.com. We consider ourselves truly blessed to have an affiliate base that has remained steadfast in their allegiance to our company during a time of corporate transformation and industry-wide changes.
We believe, as we know you do, that Affiliate Marketing has grown more challenging over the last few years. We also have identified that the Affiliate Network that tenaciously supports their Affiliates and provides them the tools that they need to succeed, will ultimately garner allegiance from those Affiliates. It is these fundamental principles that we adhere to and we strive to resonate these values throughout our corporate culture.
With this in mind, it has come to our attention that some Affiliate Networks have recently been asking their Affiliates to consent to Non-Compete Agreements. These Agreements are an attempt to prevent their Affiliates from marketing similar offers on competitive Affiliate Networks. For the record, CPAEmpire.com does not support the use of Non-Compete Agreements to preclude Affiliates from marketing any offer they so desire.
We view the Affiliate Marketing industry as a business-to-business partnership in which affiliates have the relevant skills and experience to market any available advertising campaign. Under this scenario, Affiliate Networks should not prevent any Affiliate from doing business with other networks over a campaign that might or might now work out for any of the parties. It is quite possible that the Advertiser might walk away from the Affiliate Network or vice versa. As we all know in the Affiliate Marketing World, a very large percentage of campaigns just don’t work out. Why would any affiliate want to put all their eggs in one basket by signing a Non-Compete?
CPAEmpire.com believes that the services that Affiliates provide are invaluable. Protecting the Affiliate’s stream of revenue should be priority, even if it means that competitive companies may get a slice of the Affiliate’s traffic. Any confident Affiliate Network that recognizes this as fact has a huge advantage and should assume they would keep the Affiliate’s loyalty for quite some time.
Overall, it sounds to us that some Affiliate Networks may be more concerned than they need to be. If their company is successful and they treat their Affiliates properly, their Affiliates will want to stick around.
CPAEmpire will continue to work strategically with our Affiliate base and we pledge our unrelenting support of our Affiliate’s ethical business models.
Sincerely,
Scott Richter
